The lucky parents of these little creatures of opportunity are filled with such hope, such wonder about just how tall the peak of greatness will reach for their child.
From the moment that a child is born, the world of opportunity stretches its arms out, eager to be embraced. The rising of the sun is much like the birth of a child, the birth of opportunity. How can one not feel a sense of motivation, vitality, and hope? The sun is generous enough to provide heat and light for anywhere from ten to twenty-three hours, enough time to pursue limitless opportunity. We subconsciously understand that the rising of the sun begins the pursuit of the day’s opportunities, and this emotion of motivation is the energy powerful enough to propel us out from our groggy state of awakening into our day’s journey.

Upon seeing the sunset and drinking that first cup of coffee in the morning, one cannot help but feel so full of life, so full of motivation. Opportunity is the most important element for our current discussion, as it is this perception of opportunity that directly influences our emotions. Opportunity to hunt, to find a mate, to search for new foraging land, and infinite other opportunities. The sun provides the heat necessary to maintain ideal internal body temperatures, provides nourishment to the plants, visibility to all diurnal creatures, and, most importantly, creates opportunity. The rising of the sun may happen at different times of the day, depending on whether on the Earth you are located and the season that you are experiencing, but there is one truth that persists: the rising of the sun signals the beginning of the day. After a thorough explanation of this theory – admittedly, highly necessary – it is hoped that the reader will gain a deeper understanding of how their internal experience relates to the natural world that we all experience. I contend that the sunrise is much like our birth, the sunset much like our death, and our emotions follow the path of the sun upward to its peak, downwards to its slumber.
